Who is responsible for what SiltaNova publishes?
SiltaNova is an independent publication. Afshin Hosseingholinezhad is its founder and editor-in-chief, and the responsible editor (vastaava päätoimittaja) under Finnish law. He decides what is published and answers for it.
What does SiltaNova cover, and for whom?
We write about AI, technology, startups, business, marketing and analytics for people who build, work and do business in Finland and the wider Nordic region. Every piece should help a reader understand something or do something.
How do we report and write?
- Every article carries the name of the person who wrote it.
- We go to primary sources first: the company, the document, the dataset, the person involved.
- We say what we know, what we do not know, and where a figure comes from.
- We write in plain British English and avoid hype.
How do we handle sources?
Every figure has a source and a date. Sources are listed at the end of each article and linked where a public link exists. We prefer original reports, official statistics and direct interviews to second-hand summaries. If a source asks not to be named, we say so and explain why we still trust the information.
How do we check facts?
Before publishing, we check names, numbers, dates and quotations against their sources. When someone other than the author has checked an article, the article names that person and gives the date.
How do we use AI?
AI tools help us research and, sometimes, produce a first draft. People decide what to publish, and they edit and verify everything. We do not publish text that no person has reviewed.
Each article says how AI was used in its "How we made this" note: not at all, for research, or for a first draft that was then rewritten and edited.
Corrections
When we get something wrong, we correct it quickly and add a note at the end of the article with the date and what changed. The "Updated" date on an article changes only when facts or advice change, not for small edits to wording.
To report an error, write to corrections@siltanova.com with a link to the article and a description of the problem.
How do we choose lists, rankings and reviews?
Our editors choose what appears in lists and rankings, using criteria stated in each article. Nobody can pay to be included or to be placed higher. Review scores reflect our own testing and judgement.
What are company and startup profiles?
Profiles of startups, companies and tools are editorial pages. They are not sponsored and cannot be bought. They rest on facts we can source, and each one lists the SiltaNova articles that mention the company. If you see an error in a profile about your company, tell us and we will check it.
How do we label sponsored content?
Content that a company has paid for is always labelled "Sponsored" or "Partner content", with a note that explains the arrangement. Sponsors have no influence on our other coverage, and editorial decisions are never for sale.
How do we handle conflicts of interest?
If an author, or SiltaNova itself, has a commercial relationship with a company we write about, we say so in the article.
Can AI systems use SiltaNova's content?
Yes. Search engines and AI systems may read, index and cite our articles, and we ask that they credit SiltaNova and link to the original. Every article also has a clean Markdown version for this purpose.
